One workshop in one day

You’ve invested in a digital single lens reflex camera and are keen to create memorable photographs. But you’re still shooting on automatic because you’re wary of how things work in manual. You have so many questions—about lighting, shutter speed, composition and the mechanics of the camera itself. This full day workshop will teach you how to maximise what your camera offers and shoot great images. You’re guaranteed to learn more in a morning with Beth Jennings Photography (BJP) than you will in months of experimenting and ‘playing around’. At the end of your morning you’ll have conquered your camera. I’ve got a reputation for explaining complicated concepts in plain English. My aim is to ensure, at the end of the workshop, that you are in control of your camera, not the other way around. My knowledge travels with me so these workshops can be held wherever I happen to be.

Morning - ISO, aperture, shutter speed and how they work together (10.00am-1.00pm)
Afternoon - Achieving correct exposure and using your camera’s histogram to take the guesswork out of the exposure process (2.00pm-5.00pm)
One on one mentoring
Different to the group dynamic, this 3 hour session is completely focused on your specific needs. We can look at a combination of workshop elements, or focus on your folio, post-production, or a combination of all as you need. If you prefer to work one on one, then the fee is $345 for a three hour block of mentoring time.
How is this different to other photo courses around?
- You receive personal attention with a practicing professional photographer with more than a decade of international and national experience.
- Packed with practical information and advice, that you can start applying right away.
- Hand’s-on practice to turn theory into photographs.
- A fun, informal and conversational format in a small group setting (6 maximum).

* Bachelor of Arts (Commercial Art Photography) degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (1999)

My training and more than a decade behind the lens have equipped me to handle most photography challenges (technical and creative). Since my wedding days I then travelled around the globe many times, taking photographs in all kinds of light and in all kinds of places. While exploring the world, I have taken dynamic photographs of people, wildlife, landscapes, cities, towns, rural and remote places, and buildings and other structures, both interior and exterior.
