Adam and Tina
and I go back almost a decade. Their family story began when I photographed their wedding in the early noughties. Little did we know back then that the journey was only just beginning. These are my kinda people. Adam is a creative, he’s a building designer. His work is dynamic and original and they were recently interviewed by House and Garden. They live in the amazing house that you’ll see in their pictures. Tina is his right hand woman and she carefully fluffs up the nest. I’ve seen that they’re a team. They’re people I love to work with and for. Every decision they make is carefully considered, and that includes the decision to undertake photography with me of their growing family.
we documented their 2009 Family Story with Ella and Chilli the dog. In 2010, they were expecting Ruby. Time to get out the camera…and we’re so glad we did. We marked the milestones this year in photographs – pregnancy, at the hospital, at home, and several months after Ruby’s birth. The images we created celebrate them, their special family, the excitement and wonderment of a new baby, and all the little moments in between, like bath time and feeding Ruby. They’re all small moments…teeny weeny moments that pass by. But in fact they are special moments, and can be very powerful in photographs. When Tina saw an image of Ruby in her bassinet, she said oh I can remember the smell of her room when I look at that.
Out of a final cut of 171 beautiful images over four photo sessions, you’ll see here a selection of about 30. The entire 2010 story will be amazing in the story book…more on that later. Meanwhile, if you’d like to learn more about how a photo session unfolds, then jump over to the Behind-the-Scenes page.
I love doing this work! I’m giving people the gift of themselves. Sure, I’m pretty focused about my work and philosophy, but I see no point to being a photographer unless I’m adding meaning in someone else’s life by doing it.
