Beth Jennings Photography [gums]

Having spent a good couple of years overseas, I’ve come back to Australia with a fresh appreciation for all things Aussie.  Recently I took myself out one windy evening to experiment with capturing ye old gum trees, those tough, stoic creatures that keep on keeping on, even after they’ve been burnt to a crisp in a fire. I…

I was approached to photograph my friend J a couple of years ago.  At the time she said she was interested in documenting herself as she is now, in her youth.   Time ran away with me, I went overseas and then we didn’t get around to it.  Finally, last night, we did.  After…

Hi Beth,

The pictures you took were absolutely beautiful, I’m so happy with them. As a record of me in my “youth”, they’re something I can keep forever and treasure alongside my most prized possessions. I felt like it all clicked that night, the writing (thanks tara!), the balance and composition, the colour (those red red walls), light, chandelier and the relaxed atmosphere we were so lucky to have, as photographer and subject, after all those years of friendship. I can’t wait to see the rest!

Hello my dear Yole, you are wonderful, thanks so much for the comment! J was amazing but we couldn’t have done it without your help. thanks again so much, with heartfelt gratitude, B

Ciao Beth

J looks gorgeous in this photo….a treasured lifelong memento for her, achievable through your continual and ever-present creative photographic talent!

I simply love the artistic black and white shoot giving it an almost ‘vintage art’ like presence.

It was a pleasure to offer you our dining room. Truly, I’m quite thrilled to have a professional shot of the much admired chandelier as the backdrop. So thank you.

You know I’m one of your biggest fans!

Fantastic stuff! I *love* the one of the girl running toward the camera with a naughty grin, and the dad slightly out of focus behind. Lovely!

Beth,

Congratulations on “Voir c’est croire”. It is true to say that at first viewing “je ne pouvais pas en croire mes yeux”…such a different way of communicating is this new medium known as BLOG. But I did enjoy the piece on Patti Smith and look forward to dipping into the site from time to time for insight into what you are doing, seeing and thinking as you pursue your passion for photography.

I photographed this high energy Canberra-based Latino band called Los Chavos recently.  Headed up by Andy Jauregui, a Bolivian musician and singer, this band will get your toes tapping and hips wiggling without a doubt.  A CD launch is anticipated shortly, check them out at http://www.myspace.com/loschavos. They can be seen playing at various venues around Canberra: www.bmamag.com….
